Lecture Title: The Relationship between Biological Function and Linguistic Ontology: A Series on Interdisciplinary Research in Medicine and Language
Biography:
Hu Xuhui is the Director of the Institute of Foreign Linguistics and Applied Linguistics at the School of Foreign Languages, Peking University, an Associate Professor, researcher, doctoral supervisor, and Vice President of the Formal Linguistics Professional Committee of the China English-Chinese Comparative Research Association. He has been selected for the National Youth Talent Project by the Ministry of Education. Additionally, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the CSSCI journal "Linguistics Research" and a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of East Asian Linguistics (an SSCI/AHCI journal published by the Department of Linguistics at Harvard University). His research focuses on syntax, pragmatics, and morphology. He has authored numerous publications, including articles in prestigious journals such as Linguistic Inquiry, Natural Language and Linguistic Theory, Journal of Linguistics, Journal of East Asian Linguistics, Foreign Language Teaching and Research, Foreign Languages, and Contemporary Linguistics. Furthermore, he has published one English monograph with Oxford University Press (2018) and one Chinese monograph with Tsinghua University Press (2023).
