Graduate Education
Peking University School of Health Humanities (SHH) undertakes the mission of cultivating graduate students in the field of medical and health humanities and Marxist theory. In recent years, based on the requirements of cultivating high-level students with high quality and innovation, SHH followed the trends of international researches, worked out the curriculum system, teaching contents and training programs, and developed a distinctive training model for cultivating health humanity students with high quality and innovation.
At present, there are 24 research supervisors in the School, including 14 doctoral supervisors; 55 full-time graduate students, including 22 doctoral students. After graduation, most of students work in teaching, research, clinical or administrative jobs in their own fields.

1. Specialty features:
History of Science and Technology is a crossing-discipline of natural science and social science, which takes use of methods of social science to analyze the history and evolution of natural sciences, and their interaction with society, politics, economics and culture, innovating scientific culture.
2. Research directions:
Social History of Science and Technology (Social History of Medicine), History of Scientific Thought (History of Medical Thought), Comparative Study on the History of Chinese and Foreign Medicine, Medical Humanity and Cultural History Study, History of Diseases.
Applied Psychology
I. Master Program
i. Applied Psychology (Master of Science)
1. Specialty features:
Applied Psychology mainly focuses on theories and practices in medical psychology, clinical psychology, health psychology and related fields. Students will obtain basic theories, knowledge and research skills of physical and psychological illnesses, counseling and psychotherapy and psychological evaluation, and be equipped with basic ability to do health education, psychological counselling and scientific research.
2. Research directions:
Method of psychotherapy, psychological evaluation, physical and psychological illnesses.
3. Core courses:
Students should complete courses of 26-28 credits, including 4 credits for practical activities such as clinical probation. Core courses of this discipline are Study Methods of Psychology, Psychotherapy, Psychological Evaluation, Psychiatry, Group Counseling and Psychotherapy, Advanced Course of Medical Psychology.
ii. Applied Psychology (Professional Master Degree)
1. Specialty features:
Applied Psychology mainly focuses on the education of theories and practices in medical psychology, clinical psychology, health psychology and related fields. Students will obtain basic knowledge and skills of psychological education, counselling and psychological evaluation, and be qualified for psychological education and counselling in schools, hospitals and other institutions.
2. Research directions:
Counselling and psychotherapy, psychological evaluation, mental health education and promotion, psychological crisis intervention.
II. Doctoral Program
1. Specialty features:
Applied Psychology mainly focuses on theories and practices in medical psychology, clinical psychology, health psychology and related fields. Students will obtain the ability to conduct innovative research of theory and application in the field of physical and psychological illnesses, counseling and psychotherapy and psychological evaluation, and be qualified for health education, psychological counselling and scientific research.
2. Research directions:
Counselling and psychotherapy, psychological evaluation, mental health education and promotion, psychological mechanism and invitation of physical and psychological illnesses.
3. Core courses:
Students should complete courses of 9-13 credits. Core courses of this discipline are Psychological Supervision, Psychotherapy, Study Methods of Psychology, Psychiatry, Advanced Psychological Statistics.
Foundational Studies in Chinese Modern and Contemporary History
Master Program
1. Specialty features:
This discipline focuses on the accurate, deep and comprehensive grasp of the development of Chinese modern and contemporary history. Researches are mainly about important topics of Chinese modern history, with the application of theories and the basis on reality.
2. Research Directions:
Chinese Drug Control History, Research on Contemporary Chinese Problems, Chinese Modern and Contemporary History.
Fundamental Principles of Marxism
Master Program
1. Specialty features:
Based the development of Marxist thoughts and the essence of Marxism, this department aims to focus on the holistic study and guiding significance of fundamental principles of Marxism, and the challenge it faces in new times.
