Content Overview:

Professor Xu Shenjian started from why we should take legal professional ethics seriously. He will analyze the social transformation of the conflict of values and interests, the symbol of the rise of universities, the rule of law and the rule of legal professional community, and whether the legal professional ethics can be taught and effective. He will specifically discuss the following questions: can legal professional ethics ensure that all those who receive legal professional ethics education have lofty professional ethics? If not, how can professional ethics give legal professional community some standards and norms to rely on, so that they know where the boundary of their professional behavior is and how to abide by it, so as to promote the realization of fairness and justice? How can China cultivate a group of high-quality legal professional community with persistent faith, good morality, rich knowledge and excellent skills?

 

Speaker: 

Professor of China University of Political Science and Law, Dean of School of Juris Master, Former Director of the Legal Ethics Teaching and Research Office and Practice Teaching and Research Office, Deputy Chairman and Secretary-General of the Chinese Legal Document Research Association, Deputy Director of the Committee of Chinese Clinical Legal Education, and Deputy Director of the Moot Court Professional Committee. Research Areas: Legal Ethics, Procedural Law, Practical Legal Education, Judicial System and Legal Document. He once served as a recruitment professor of Korea's Kyungpook National University and was invited to serve as a visiting professor at the McGeorge School of Law school in the United States, the Washington law school, and so on. He taught relevant courses in English in the above law schools respectively. Visiting scholar of Oxford University in 2012 and New York University Law School in 2014.
